Nikki has always been a country girl, her parents owned the family farm and Nikki has always been surrounded by animals although it was always just dogs and cats and whatever else they managed to find. However Nikki has always wanted a horse, but her parents wouldn’t let her as they are well known for eating everything in the garden and that would jeopardise the business. So Nikki and her parents came to an agreement that once she was old enough she would go to the nearby town of Appaloosa Plains and they would help her to buy her first house and there she could finally get her own horse. So on her 18th birthday that’s what her parents gave her was the money to help with buying a house, they also gave her a letter. The letter was from Nikki’s grandmother who passed away 3 years ago, she opened the letter and started reading, the letter explained that her grandmother had been involved in funding a Irish Draught breeding project and it also explained that one of the best mares at the stud had been put in foal and that the foal would be Nikki’s when it became 3. However her parents finished by saying that her grandmother never got to see the foal as it was born just after she died. At the end of the letter there was a phone number and address for the stud. Nikki at first wasn’t sure what to do, however she decided to ring the number and see what the people had to say, when they answered they said they were glad to hear from Nikki and had been waiting for her call for a few weeks, the stud had run into financial problems and were closing down all the horses had been sold with the exception of two. One of the horses was the foal out of that mare her grandmother had written about and it was a young mare now, they asked if she could come down and collect her as soon as possible, but there was also a young stallion which they persuaded her to take as well.
Once she hung up she told her parents about it all and they helped her pack up what she needed, Nikki decided she was going to make a new life for herself in Appaloosa Plains with her new horses. The next day she drove all the way to the stud and could see when she arrived that it had fallen into disrepair and understood why they were closing, they told her that although their horses were some of the best that there was just not enough interest and everything was too expensive. Nikki arranged for them to be taken to Appaloosa Plains. When in Appaloosa Plains she bought the largest lot, although it was empty, she decided that was the foundations for her stables which she named Foxton Stables.
