I was born in Lovelock, Nevada in late February. My mom used to tell me that she knew it had been lunchtime when I was
born, because she could smell potato chips on the doctor's breath. They almost didn't make it to the hospital on time, because
of some wicked storm, but that it was just perfectly sunny and bright by the time we left the hospital. I'm not sure if I believe
that, since my mother is quite the storyteller. My dad says that, despite it being the best day of his life, the weather was
pretty much just like it always is in Nevada. Hot.
We kind of lived like travellers. My mom never liked a paper trail, and maybe I got it from her, but can't say no to a good deal. It's
made me a little frugal. We traveled a lot when I was with my parents, but I spent most of my childhood and teenage summers
with my grandma, Clementine Binks. After I was born, my parents didn't seem to get along so well. Their relationship was kind
of up and down all the time. I actually had a habit of getting into trouble when I was older when I was there, but that seemed
to always be my mom's fault. My mom is always making messes, and I tend to have to clean them up. I guess it's turned me
into a neat person, because I like to keep things in order because I don't really want to end up like her.
My dad and Nana are wonderful people. He always told me that he couldn't always buy me everything, but that he'd always
buy me books. He'd read to me when I was little, and I guess it's turned me into a kind of bookworm. I love reading any and
all books I can get my hands on, save for most nonfiction-type books. That's more of my dad's thing, really. But we bond over
novels have promised to send them back and forth for eachother so we can talk about them. Kind of like a book club or something.
To be honest, I never thought about being with someone. I always seemed to know that my parents had issues, and I
suppose it's given me a complex of some sort. I met a guy once, and he told me I had commitment issues. I... wasn't quite
sure how to respond to that. I'm still not. But he was a turning point in my life, or at least the climax right before. ... No pun
intended. But he was, and always will be, my only chance.
I met him in Nevada. A part of me wished I hadn't at first, and still did for a while, but now I'm thankful. He saved my life, in
more ways than one. I met him at the wrong time, maybe. Or maybe it was the perfect time. I'm not sure. He's the reason
I've moved back in with my Nana, though. And it's going to be great. Dad ventured out to Nevada to make money and send it
home so that Nana Binks could keep her farm, and now I'm here to help her make it into what she's always wanted. I'm not the
world's best equestrian, but Nana Binks thinks I'm a natural seems to think we can put the farm on the map by turning Lunaria
Acres into a safe haven for horses and people who want to help one another. I just can't wait to be around the fillies!
