Amanda is the owner of Morning Star Equestrian. A long time rider, she purchased her first horse as a weanling wanting to raise the foal herself. Admittedly she was unsure of her success. She had worked with horses all her life, but the trial of a raising foal was not something she had accomplished without help. Still she was determined because she knew the reward would be great. She purchased a black Trakehner colt named Ezio from a local breeder. She wanted a competition horse and the colt had great bloodlines. It was a rough journey, but the she and Sir Nathan Drake (as he was known in the ring) grew to be best of friends and a nearly unbeatable pair.
Amanda stumbled across the Akhal-Teke breed at a competition. She was hypnotized by its elegant form and graceful, but powerful, form. Ezio was still a juvenile and the pressure of two juvenile horses was daunting. Yet again she took a chance and sought out Akhal-Teke breeders. All the horses advertised were stunning, but she knew she wanted something special. She wasn’t sure what she was looking for, but she would know when she found it, just like she did with Ezio.
Then she found the perfect horse. A stunning golden buckskin mare only three years old. The filly’s price had been severely reduced. A breeder had purchased her from native Turkman breeders, but the filly proved to be more than they could handle. They called her a problem horse. After visiting the farm and seeing the filly herself, Amanda knew that was wrong. She wasn’t a problem horse, she was just too smart for her own good. She immediately purchased the filly.
With a lot of respect and patience, Siren Song soon rose to the same fame as Sir Nathan Drake. After her experience with the mare, Amanda knew she wanted to start a breeding and training program for Akhal-Tekes and the related Nez Perce. She contacted breeders, trainers, and competitors alike. Morning Star Equestrian was then born.
