I have browsed through alot of the albums here and have been blown away with the barns and horses the others have. My stables are a bit plain but they get the job done. ;D I am a new barn so I thought I would join you guys by posting some of my centers pictures so you can get to know me better. And my horses of course, the most important part! Alot of my staff have horses boarded at the equestrian center as well.
So now, introducing Elysian Fields Equestrian Center!
Our Competition Horses
Firestarter is a flaxen chestnut splash Akhal-Teke stallion. He does Combined Training and is the starter sire to my breeding program for Akhal-Tekes and is also Astra's personal mount. They have been together since Firestarter was a very young horse. He is a character and an attention seeker. If he sees Astra, he lets her know it. If he wants attention and he doesnt get it, he lets you know. Music seems to soothe him sometimes so we have a radio in the barn. Xander would like to mention that he thinks his wife spends more time with Fire then she does him.
In this photo we have Roxanne, the palomino Akhal-Teke mare, Connie the grey Welsh Pony, Fondue the bay Caspian and way back in the back, the Unicorn Minerva.
Roxanne is Xanders personal mount and while she is a sweet mare, she doesn't really tolerate anyone else at the reins if she doesn't know you very well. She is very sensitive and you have to have light hands. Xander is pictured with her and they both do combined events together.
Connie and Fondue are the twins ponies, Alexander and Xavier who are Astra and Xander's sons, don't ask me who is in the picture with the ponies cause even I dont know! They are identical twins! They like to switch ponies as well. One will be on one pony when they start out and by the time they come back to the barn it may or may not be the same twin on the same horse. Yup. Confusing. Even for the poor parents. This quad of mischief makers will be ready for the hunter circuit soon! Watch out for them.
Minerva in the background....well, she likes to visit every so often and no one really owns hers. How do you own a unicorn?
Better pic of Roxanne, she was hidden in the back by ponies and Xander thought she wasn't represented good enough. You can see her awesome Teke shine in this pic. No lighting effects were used in this photo, it's all her. Xander would also like to mention that since his Wife spends so much time with Fire he has now started to refer to Roxanne as his "other woman".
And the last horse we have for now is Night Siren, a Friesian mare, who is one of the trainers competition Dressage horse.
Everyone at the barn loves this mare, she is a clown combined with a diva personality. Christina, her owner, is very particular with her mare too. She doesn't even let her husband rider her!
Will be posting the breeding horses later!
I would also like to know what you think of the pony sizes? Do they look appropriate for the breed?
