I hope so Fennec. She has another lesson tomorrow so we'll see how it goes. I'm thinking of doing more stuff on the ground with her. Guess sitting on the horse the first lesson and a walk was too much for her. Hopefully it will go better tomorrow.

Silver Maple Equestrian made a very generous donation today. Meet Reza! He's a very lovely Arabian gelding. He's a real gentleman and has such a puppy dog personality. Alec went to pick him up since I was busy in town for the day. He said Reza trailered like a dream. Alec has taken a liking to this guy, and Arabians are really not his thing. I think I'll be catching Alec "borrowing" him from time to time. Another special addition arrived today! This is Kai the Mini Gypsy filly! I bought her in utero from Gentle Giant Estate. I was so excited to get her! Poor baby was tired from the long trip and hasn't woken up yet. Thanks so much for your generous donation GGE!

Cute pic of the day! 3 Friends coming over looking for their grain. Tango Flirt & Spartan I had a lesson early this AM and it was a group lesson with 4 students. Here are some of our lesson horses waiting patiently for their riders to arrive. Reza, Silver, Tango & Sandy Finally being brushed and tacked up. Liam had gone for an English lesson at VLS & caught the english bug. I found a saddle for him and he decided to ride like that for today. Warming up on the rail. You may recognized our first student from the previous lesson I posted. She's doing remarkably well and isn't as afraid anymore. She seems to be more relaxed in a group setting. Sandy is helping her gain confidence too! Circles More advanced students trotting while the beginners practice their control through the cones. Happy horse & rider! Beth got out of the paddock and ran into the ring. Sandy thought it was funny and wanted to play. Everyone dismounted to be safe while Beth was caught. Luckily she surrendered and got caught easily. Advanced students canter while beginners dismount. Tomorrow Liam will be taking his first jumping lesson! We also have a new foal on the way.

Liam's parents are very wealthy. His father owns the Sim City bank. He may get practically whatever he wants, but his home life sucks. He get's dropped off here right after school, and only has like a sandwich for supper so I end up feeding him most of the time (not that I mind). Sometimes his parents don't even come and get him in the evenings, so he sleeps in my guestroom or in the loft when he feels adventurous. I feel sorry for him. He helps out a lot around the barn.

Hi!
I'm new, just found the forum yesterday and guess which thread I was reading, that I forgot to go to bed at the right time? I started on the first page and followed along to the last and I just have to say, that your photos are amazing! I love the horses and how individual you portray them also hearing about the everyday life in your stable (especially the riding lessons & summer camp) is great and your writing is very nice to read. I laughed out loud more than once! May I ask how many horses you currently have?

Thank you so much Daria! We currently have 4 boarders 11 certified lesson/camp horses 13 Paints 6 QH's 4 Appaloosas 3 Arabs 17 Other breeds, some for breeding, some for competition, trail rides etc....
I know it sounds like a lot, but we use them all. We have so many lesson programs, therapy classes, trail rides, camping adventures, shows etc... that all the horses are used. We have lots of students and people who rent or lease as well. Each horse has a job and we keep our elders as well, those guys are used for grooming lessons or just chill out in the paddocks.
Isabella - Liam would love an Arabian!

Well, we've got some big changes in Liam. It's with hesitance I let him grow up. He's now 16 years old and living with me full time. He's renting one of our apartments on site. He's advancing well in his riding, and we're so proud of him. He's kind of like a foster child of mine. Today he brought a friend home from school. Her name is Amy, and I actually taught her when she was a kid. He invited her over to go for a ride, since he does own two horses. They brought Dusty & Saltscape in, then tacked them up. Amy knew the basics from taking a few lessons before. Of course I jumped in and gave her a few pointers on body position. She's having problems with her heels and slouching. I suppose it's inevitable for any beginner. Liam has only had one english lesson as a kid at VLS. He decided it was smart to show off and take a rather menacing jump with Saltscapes, who's never gone over anything but poles in trail class. Of course, she refused and he almost went over her head. Hold on, or let your pride splatter! Well, since his ego was bruised, they decided to go on a trail ride instead. When they got home Amy had an unfortunate dismounting incident. They went and turned the horses back out. Amy thanked him for a great time, and look what happened. Yes, Liam's first kiss! He'll be so mad I took this picture XD I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of Amy. Tomorrow after school, Liam's coming for a drive with me and the horse trailer. Hmmm... I wonder what we'll be doing
