Ben graduated high school and entered the work force afterwards. His career of choice, or luck, was that of a journalist. At work he met many attractive women with whom we eventually became well acquainted, but never wanted to commit. His popularity with the female population of Appaloosa Plains grew while all was fine. All went well for a few years until his company went bankrupt due to crashing economy. Since then he has not been able to go on dates and parties with his 'friends', and has lost most of his shallow relationships. Desperate, he put up an add int he newspaper stating that he was looking for a job.
After a few months, he received a phone call from a woman named Sylvia Brodaron. Much to his disappointment, she did not call to express her attraction to his person. Sylvia called to ask him if he would like to be a stable hand for Halcyon Glen Stables. It, was a job and compensation/benefits sounded promising, he accepted. Ben had worked as a stable hand before while in high school so he knew the work involved, or at least he thought he did.
Soon he moved in to the equestrian estate; he was surprised to find that his room was directly above the barn. Ben conversed with Sylvia and tried to use his charms, but with no avail: the woman seemed immune. Nonetheless he began his work, and his first assignment was to see to a new horse named Marble whose sheer size towered over the man.
