The funny thing is, I've never jumped in my life, haha. I based it on some novels I've read, what it looks like and what I think it'd feel like. And some research to see if micro-managing/closing your eyes is a legitimate technique, heh.

Awww--I adore both your writing and your screenshots, girl. Rena's character is so vivid. I really love her interaction with Mags--I'm glad she finally found someone that's easier for her to interact with. Mags is so patient! She knows just what to say to encourage her. I love it.

Album has been moved as it qualifies as a story/diary under "Folk Tales".
Feel free to change the title of the thread to something more fitting, if you desire!
Thanks!

Shoot, sorry for not posting for a while. I'm trying to time these with the shows I enter Rena in so this one is being timed to coincide with the Schooling Hunter show that CircleF is hosting. The results won't really be based off of it unless Rena does well but it's just to keep track of her riding skill/level and gives me something to do/give some background to her learning to ride in between shows.
Rena's Diary: Entry 12
Our first show is tomorrow! I kind of feel like I might vomit, as gross as that sounds, but I'm really happy! I'm entered in Beginner Hunter classes which judge both me and Maybel on our form, as far as I understand.
I'm actually writing this from my hotel room so you get to travel with us! Can't risk leaving you at home where Dominick might try to sneak a peek, ugh. I spent all day prepping Maybel for the show, had to wash her and brush her and braid her mane and then I had to figure out how shipping equipment works. Everything is so... bulky, it wasn't too complicated just kind of annoying.
But we're here and tomorrow I get to warm up Maybel and then it's the big day and oh god I feel nervous again and kind of excited but I seriously think I might vomit. I also think Mags might kill me if she finds out I'm still awake. Yep, here comes a yawn. Time for bed!
I can't believe I'm competing in my first show, eee!
Goodnight!

I actually hate my editing, I was laughing at myself the entire time because I always think it's really bad but ah well, I tried Alright, the next update will start the posts relating to the show but I don't think you'll see Rena in the next update. EDIT: I don't think you guys have ever seen Mags in proper riding gear but she wears dark green. Her students wear beige and Rena wears blue because she has to stand out, obviously
"Alright Rena, let's practice a bit before the show later today. Just simple jumps, nothing new,"
Mags instructed as she moved to perch herself on the fence to watch Rena's form. Maybel had taken well to the trip, so far she seems like herself and that was good. Johanna and Maranda had also arrived and were waiting for their turn in the paddock to practice before the show.
As Rena steered Maybel toward the jump, she couldn't help but think about everything. About the show, about Johanna, about Maranda, about everybody who would be watching her. She felt that familiar knot in her stomach, that sinking feeling, but this time that sinking feeling wasn't just a feeling; she was falling.
Falling was an odd sensation; her body slid out of the saddle as Maybel landed and luckily it wasn't a high jump at all so she managed to land without hurting anything. Bruises, maybe, but aside from a stinging pain in her backside, she felt fine. That is, until she heard laughter. Turning her head, she caught a look at Johanna and Maranda laughing before Maybel nudged her as if to ask 'what're you doing down there?' and Rena was done.
As she stood and brushed herself off, Mags came over and quietly grabbed the reins.
"How about I finish warming Maybel up? You can clean yourself up and put something on to help with any bruises, okay? Focus and forget about today, it's not worth it."
Rena nodded, a gloved hand coming up to brush her eyes as she turned away and headed into the barn. She had no idea how she'd be able to face the competition, or more specifically the girls who tormented her and who would do anything in their power to ruin her life and make her miserable.

Aww Rena, don't worry about it. Those girls have no idea! Falling off happens to the best of us, particularly when they are distracted You need to stay focused during the competition, nothing else matters!

Show nerves can be the worst. Hopefully she can focus on Maybel and not worry about all the other stuff.
