Biography
Sergio Pepe Morales grew up in the Valverde del Camino countryside in the Andalucia providence of southern Spain. His life revolved around the Pure Spanish Horse; the Andalusian, which his father bred and trained for use in Spanish bullfights. Up until his teens, Sergio followed in his fathers footsteps, breeding these beautiful horses for their dance with death in the arena, but in his young life, Sergio traveled to England where he witnessed the Andalusian performing in Dressage at international levels. This was a turning point for the young man once destined to be a great matador. Refusing to battle the bulls as his father and grandfather had done before him made Sergio an outcast in his own family. Fate led Sergio to an old friend who just so happened to be a true Carthusian monk. These people were deemed with saving what is today considered the purest strain of Andalusian blood from extinction. These horses were called the Carthusian or Carthusian-Andalusian. Sergio struck a deal with the monks that guaranteed he would be provided with a few horses to start his own breeding program in North America once he was prepared. So Sergio left Spain into a world he had little knowledge of-he could not even speak the language. He and his late wife came to the United States with their young son and settled in a farming community in the Midwest. It would take Sergio a decade before he had enough money to build the stables he had always wanted. He devoted his life to learning Classical Dressage and needless to say was very successful at it, but not nearly as impressive as his only son, Jacobe Lucas Morales.
Jacobe inherited his families love for the Carthusian Andalusian and grew up being schooled day in and day out by his father. Jacobe also learned English at a relatively young age, becoming his parent's translator and thus grew up rather quickly. By the time Sergio expanded his property with hundreds of acres of undeveloped land purchased from the government, Jacobe was old enough to help out with the planning, architecture, and construction of the stud itself. Together, this father and son team built the stable and farmhouse from the ground up, enlisting friends to help in their endeavors. It took several years to turn this grassland lot into something that reflected both the modern American style and the Spanish style of architecture. In the process, Jacobe's attention turned to the highest form of Classical Dressage, the Haute Ecole and he began studying exclusively in that method. Within a year of the stables completion, Jacobe found a woman, married, and had a beautiful daughter. Today the four family members live at the stud farm and reside with a small number of top-quality Haute Ecole graduate dressage horses.
