NEW: 1) Horses are social creatures, gated walls and stall walls really make things ideal. But, if you're making an isolation stall for a vet clinic or what-not, realistically, full walls would be used to prevent spreading. So keep in mind what these stalls will be used for.
2) Don't be shy about foliage! It can cover up ugly spots and can really bring out the life. Plants also can really tie things together, or just add a nice little shady spot or a leafy hiding place. I highly recommend using as much as you can.
