Maple Ridge Stables is owned and operated by Emma Votoure. Emma has always been a great lover of horses, with Holsteiners being one of her favorite breeds. After marrying, Emma decided that she wanted to fulfill her life long dream to own a top notch jumping horse. Soon she stumbled upon a handsome Holsteiner stallion by the name of Redneck. Redneck was old, around 18, and certainly not the easiest horse to get along with, but Emma worked with him every day until the two become inseparable. Emma and Redneck were an unbeatable pair in the show ring. Enormous, strong and determined, Redneck worked well with Emma who was passionate and calm. The two of them quickly worked their way up the ladder, going from small community shows, to nationally ranked events in just two years. The pair probably would have gone a lot farther if a bout of serious colic hadn't suddenly struck, ending Redneck's life and leaving Emma without her best friend.
Devastated by the loss of her companion, Emma retreated from Show Jumping and horses, determined to leave that world behind forever. However, just three years after Redneck's death, Emma's wife, Sam Votoure, came into a large inheritance, which included an enormous plot of land and a rather run down old barn. Before she new it, Emma and Sam were moving to the country to set up a new life on the property. To Emma the property seemed too big and too full of potential to waste and soon she had plans to renovate the barn and build several new equestrian complexes.
It was Sam who finally purchased the horse that would begin the Maple Ridge legacy. She presented the handsome Holsteiner Stallion to Emma just a few days after the barn's reconstruction finally finished, and Emma immediately fell in love with him. They named him MRS A Separate Peace, and trained him together. Although they were both equally interested in working with horses, it was agreed that Emma would be the primary competitor, while Sam handled the training and purchasing of their horses.
Now several months later Maple Ridge Stables has expanded to include three more horses and several new trainers. We are still working on getting everything set up so MRS isn't totally set to go yet. But our trainers and horses are working hard to get ready for the showing season.
