Lianne was born in Riverview, the only child of happy couple Anna and Peter Kingsley. Anna had migrated to Riverview from the small Swedish town Nordervik looking for work, and while working as a store clerk met Peter, whom she fell in love with and eventually married.
Lianne's first years in life were very happy. She was admittedly a bit spoiled, but her parents also taught her the value of discipline and persiverance in reaching her goals and aspirations in life. For her 11th birthday, Lianne got a kitten, an Egyptian Mau that she named Kelly.
Unfortunately the happy days did not last. When Lianne was 12, she was spending the weekend at her best friend Hailey's place while her parents went on a weekend vacation. It is unclear why, but the airplane that was supposed to bring Lianne's parents back home crashed. Suddenly, Lianne was an orphan.
The misfortune did not stop there. it turned out that Peter Kingsley had no family left alive, and sending Lianne to Anna's family in Sweden was not even brought up as an option. Through various talks, agreements and nudges in different directions, Gerhard and Dorothea Thomson eventually decided to take Lianne in. Gerhard had been a friend of Lianne's paternal grandfather, and thought it would be a nice thing to do to take care of his old friend's grand-daughter.
However Dorothea and Gerhard had never raised a child of their own. Dorothea worked as a teacher, but a strict teacher-role and a loving parent-role aren't easily combined. Lianne's years in the Thomson mansion have not been particularly joyous. Sure, she never had any shortage of money, and she was allowed to go on trips abroad by herself from the time she was 16, but her foster parents pretty much only spoke to her to tell her what she should be doing, and not be doing. The constantly high expectations and lack of warmth worsened Lianne's inate tendency to be on the shy side.
At age 16, Lianne did something her foster parents did not expect, and frankly were not too thrilled with. She had found a tiny ad in the local newspaper about a horse for sale, that would be sent to slaughter if nobody had come forward to buy him within a week. There was no picture of the horse, no description other than that it was a male, adult horse. Lianne and her best friend Hailey went to look, and were in absolute awe of what they saw. A beautyful, young, strong Arabian stallion. Hailey, who had grown up as a horse rider told Lianne that physically the horse was great, his gaits were excellent and in general if trained properly he would make a wonderful riding horse. The problem was, however, that he was completely untrained. The owner had bought him as a foal because she thought he was pretty, but had no clue how to raise and train him. The cute little foal had grown into an adult stallion with a bunch of bad habits. He had in fact had a halter on but that was about the extent of his training.
Lianne decided within ten minutes of seeing the horse, whom she named Trigger, that she was going to buy him. Her foster parents were most displeased, and said they wanted nothing to do with the horse. If Lianne wanted it she would have to take care of it all by herself, and pay all the expenses out of her allowance. This did not faze Lianne, who took a part-time job at the local spa to help finance Trigger's upkeep.
At age 17 Lianne adopted one of the puppies her foster parents two Groenendael dogs had. She named the puppy Edward, and he grew into an extremely friendly, happy, and well-behaved dog.
On her 18th birthday, Lianne found out that her parents had actually left her quite a bit of money. In fact, everything they had before they died was now hers. Tired of her unloving foster parents Lianne had bought her own farm within a week of her 18th birthday, and moved there with her cat, dog and horse. Since she thought both Trigger and Edward were stunning animals, she wanted to make something out of their bloodlines. For this purpose she bought two Arabian mares, Batseba and Tazara, and a female Groenendael dog, named Alicia. Both horses came from an old lady who had been breeding Arabians as a hobby, and who had reached a fairly good result. Alixia was adopted from the local shelter, where she ended up after the people who bought her realized they had not bought a cute, black little lapdog, but a working dog who demanded a lot of time, attention and training.
At this point Lianne is qquite happy with her life. But of course, things will keep moving forward.
