Jessica had always dreamed of riding horses as a little girl, and when she started high school, her dream began to come true. Her high school had a newly started equestrian team, which she eagerly joined. She had no experience, but that didn't stop her. Horses were always fascinating to her, and she made sure to watch the races on tv and the events held outside her home town on a daily basis. She joined the team her freshman year, and by the time she was a junior, she was already competing in A rated shows on the school's horses. Sadly, though, when she graduated from high school, she lost her chance to ride horses. She thought that her dream was over and done with.
She moved to North Carolina for college, where she was going to study in psychology. However, her focus of schooling quickly changed from psychology to animal science when she found a local riding barn that needed a helping hand. Quitting her boring retail job, she eagerly took the position of stable hand, balancing her full time job with her full time school.
It was at this stable that she managed to meet the man of her dreams and her future husband, though at the time, she would have never thought she'd ever marry him. Their first encounter was a rough one, to say the least. She had been trying to handle one of the amped up stallions when he came speeding by in his pick-up truck. The truck had spooked the stallion, and he had danced sideways, knocking Jessica over and breaking free of her hold. After having chased down the stallion, she had chased down the boy (for he was obviously no man) whom had acted so immaturely.
Their first encounter was arguing and shouting, followed by a slap in the face and a storm-off.
How the two managed to get along and fall in love, one will never know. But they did, and during her junior year in college, he proposed to her. It was quite romantic, really. He had left a note in the stall telling her to take Phoenix out and to meet him down the trail. She met him, and there, on top of the hill under the setting sun, was a picnic and a man down on one knee. How could she say no to him?
Sadly, though, after their marriage, her father passed away. He had been a wealthy man, and though she had never spent much time with him (her mom and dad were divorced, and her dad had moved up to Canada) she made sure to always keep in contact with him. To her surprise, a man showed up at the ranch one day and said that her father had left her a large sum of money and a small island off the coast of North Carolina. She was floored and eagerly shared the news with her husband. She had been expressing interest lately in starting her own farm, but neither of them had the funds.
Now they did.
So they packed up everything they owned and got to work on building their new dream. The only thing missing would be the horses. Well, when she was getting ready to leave, her sister-in-law presented her with a present. She was giving Phoenix to her to keep, the young, spirited stallion that she loved so much. She eagerly hugged her sister and arranged for Stallion to be dropped off on the Stallion at a later date. Until then, they began construction on the island to make it her dream facility.
