Jenny quickly got out the way of the rearing hooves, and softly began stroking the mare's nose. "Come on girl, look! Its your daughter!" The mare sniffed the air, then shied away. The filly was attempting to get up, but she was still very wobbly. "Izzy- can you get the filly to the mare?" Jenny asked, trying to re-assure the mare " If she's to have a chance, she needs the colostrum soon."

"Yep," Izzy said, helping the tiny filly to her feet. She was as light as a feather. "C'mere," the girl told the foal, nudging her toward her mother. The mare sniffed the filly and then calmed down. "Must be her first foal," Izzy shrugged. "We had better keep an eye on them though..." The filly stuck her nose under the mare's belly to get at the teats. Before the foal could start suckling, she looked up at Jenny and Izzy and stuck her tongue out. Izzy laughed and shook her head. "What a goofball!" Izzy giggled. The filly, whom Izzy had started to call Pebbles, relaxed as her mother's milk filled her mouth.

Jenny sighed with relief as the foal began to nurse and the mare began nuzzling her. "Thank god for that! I think it is her first foal- most mothers have trouble adjusting, but she'll be fine now. She will need monitoring though- that foal will be a handful, mark my words!" She flopped down next to Izzy in the straw. "I'm in serious need of a cup of tea!"

((Well that escalated quickly, lol XD)
"Easy, sweetie," Lorelei murmered to the mare, who was trembling a bit and slick with sweat. The filly was beautiful, and seemed strong for a newborn. She would be alright, now that all the chaos was over.

Izzy wiped her face with her hand. "As am I." Pebbles looked at Izzy and Jenny as if she were asking, "Why get tea when you can have this stuff?" Isabella rolled her eyes and brushed her hair out of her face.

The filly looked at Jenny and Izzy with her large eyes, then blew a milky bubble at them. Jenny laughed at her before laying her head back. "I'll go to the cafe down the road if you want one." She pulled her ponytail to the side, before heaving herself up out the straw. "Back in a bit! Its a fair walk!"

"Ah, thanks!" Izzy called after her. She glanced over at Lorelei. "Is it all right if I call her Pebbles? She's a cutie. How did you come across this mare, anyways?"

"Of course, I think it's fitting." She said, smiling and looking at the new baby. "She was here when I got here- I think she was an abandonment case. Thankfully," She added, looking at the horse in the next stall who'd been an abuse case, and had the scars to prove it.

The horse in the next stall over stuck his scarred face over to check out the new filly. He was a slate grey Quarter Horse -- or so it looked like -- with only one eye. "He was abused?" Izzy asked, her heart breaking for the poor equine. She reached out to pet him, but he shied away and backed up into the corner. "I'm sorry," Isabella whispered. Who could have hurt such a sweet boy?

"His owners have been dealt with and are serving time for what they've done," She said, sadly looking at the male they'd been calling Cloud. "But the other horses that were there didn't fare as well as he did," She said, looking down sadly. "Horses like him are why we do what we do." She said, looking back up at Cloud.

Izzy didn't know what to say. The male's eyes were wide with terror. He was a lovely horse, but those scars... They were horrible. That poor horse... "It must be hard," Isabella finally said, "seeing what people can do to horses... Pretty much everyday..." She had seen a foal living next door to her uncle in Egypt break his legs in a ditch, seen a mare die while giving birth, seen a dog maul a mini horse, but this... This was unbearable. She had to help these poor equines...

Nirvana was quick to get Ringer settled into his stall, for now. She gave him some fresh water, and hay to much on. Nirvana quickly went back to her truck, grabbing a few small bottles of some odd liquid. "Come on Monster."She opened the truck, and let the dog follow her inside. Monster was quick to go and lay in front of Mississippi's stall, panting as he did so. Nirvana just shook her head with a chuckle before going to Ringer. She stepped inside of his stall, him greeting her with a slight look. "Alright buddy. Pick which one you want the most." She slowly untwisted the bottles open, holding them out towards him.
Ringer sniffed over the bottles, his nose rubbing against her fingers, until he nibble on the middle one. "You always pick that one!" She giggled a little bit as she walked over to his water bucket. Nirvana dropped a few things of the liquid inside of it, before closing the cap once more. "That will help you relax, and stay calm."She smiled rubbing over his nose, before giving him a slight kiss. Nirvana slipped out of the stall, going back to her truck to get the grooming supplies, and soap to wash the mare up.

She looked up at Izzy, eyes filled with pain. "It's not easy, but when we get into something like this, we know what we're doing, and we know that if they make it this far and get here, they can recover, at least part of the way." She said, pulling an apple slice out of a bag and offering it to the stallion. He shied away, but eyed it hungrily, so she put it in the stall feeder and took a step away from him, watching him gobble it up. He was fed every day, on a regular basis like all the horses here, but she knew he, like many horses she'd seen, feared that he may not see food again for a long time.

Izzy's heartstrings were pulled as she watched the sorry horse chew the apple, eyeing Lorelei and Izzy in fear. "How long has he been here?" Izzy asked softly. A dappled buckskin yearling filly stuck her head out of a nearby stall and bugled, spooking the slate gelding. He reared and began to buck. Izzy yearned to help him and calm him down, but she knew that would only scare him more.

Lorelei flinched and took a slow step back to avoid flailing hooves, but the horse stopped bucking and instead looked around, having to swivel his head since he was missing an eye. "A few days, not long at all. I've worked with him a little, but he's terrified of people." She said, voice trailing off as she looked at a wound he'd opened back up. It wasn't deep or even the worst of the wounds, but it was still sad to see. She glanced over at the stall at the far end where Ringer was and was happy to see that he was settling in.
