The Horses: Josh is a very calm and loving Fjord. He was Blair's first horse ever and lived in her backyard for years before she founded NSS. He's a been there, done that kind of horse who loves everyone and will stand still for hours being pet. He's trained in every discipline and can take his rider very far. Misty belongs to Blair's sister Kat. She's specialized in Show Jumping, but has long since been retired. She's a Section D Welsh and is very tolerant of everyone. However, she's very food obsessed and will even search your pockets for treats. Storm is the first lesson horse Blair ever bought for her business. He's a school master and can do anything. Very sensitive to his rider's aids and get along with everyone. Spartan was bought for our summer camp. He's the best lesson horse ever. He's so docile that the other horse's like to pick on him a lot. He's very dependable and I trust him with my students 100%.

Damon Elliot is a currently on parole for drug possession. Blair has hired him as a stable hand, although he is on a a grace period, Blair is pretty sure he'll work out, even thought he's clueless when it comes to horses. Blair and Damon meeting for the first time. She gives him the low down about how the facility operates, and what is expected of him. Blair informs him that his main duty will be mucking out the stalls, arena and paddocks. He wasn't impressed! After the not so glamorous chores, Damon was introduced to Josh, the horse he'd be using to take his lessons on. Damon isn't too sure what to think of these creatures. All tied up! Blair had to go to the house for a minute, so she asked Damon to bring Josh in the barn by himself. Josh decided to take advantage of Damon's inexperience and make a bit of a fool of him. Seriously! You're not walking a dog! Blair headed back outside and got everything under control and Josh safely to the grooming block. Learning how to groom: After a bit on convincing, Damon vaulted onto Josh's back. That's the end of the lesson for today. Tomorrow Blair will show him how to tack up.

We got a new addition to the Therapy barn! Chardonney is the sweetest foal ever. We needed a well mannered Draft horse and she fit the bill perfectly. The best thing is, the kids can even bottle feed her. Here's our new baby settling in! Damon watched as I unloaded our new foal. He's learning how to hitch up the trailer, secure the ramp etc.... Getting to know her pasture mate Misty. This mare is so good with foals, she always takes them under her wing. Looks like someone was itchy after the long journey. Even Damon finds her sweet! Guess his tough exterior is wearing thin.... Lunch Time! I can't wait to get her trained so she'll be suitable for the kids to play with. That definitely won't take long!

Allison Garner & her son Bryan came up to visit and take a lesson. Blair was so happy to finally meet them! Blair brought them over to the paddock, where Bryan could meet Toby the Shetland. He'd be learning how to handle the pony. He was a little apprehensive, but quickly warmed up to Toby who stood waiting patiently for his treat. Blair showed Bryan how to lead his pony properly and safely. He led Toby into the barn without any help, and Blair showed him how to groom and saddle the pony. Toby is a bit fiesty and fast under saddle, so Blair brought Spartan in. He's a retired Arabian and her most trusted lesson horse. Bryan was a little intimidated by the bigger horse, but Spartan soon won him over. Blair led him around on a lead, then took off the lead rope and jogged beside them when Bryan was brave enough to try a trot. Blair said she'd be right beside him the whole time and that Spartan would take good care of him. Blair hopped on her horse Josh, and demonstrated how she uses her legs and reins to direct her horse where she wants it to go. Spartan managed to steal a snack while they were waiting. Bryan gained tremendous confidence and started trotting by himself, weaving in and out of the cones like Blair showed him. By the end of the lesson he was even using the cavelettis! The lesson went really well and Blair hopes to see the Garner's back soon!

The irony of Damon's shirt and "how he doesn't know what to think about the creatures." Nice story, Blair!

Thanks, glad you liked it. Oh, and I didn't incorporate this in the story, but you guys arrived late, so you slept overnight in one of the guest rooms. When I woke up I couldn't find you, and low and behold this is what you were up to. Were you safety checking this pony??? ROFL

Allison and Bryan came back for another lesson. Bryan was doing so well, we decided to go for a trail ride to switch things up. Damon the stable hand is learning to ride quite well. He still isn't a huge horse fan, but is managing. He's in it for the money Getting Storm out of the paddock Learning how to clean hooves. Saddling Everyone warming up. Allison is riding Spartan and Bryan's on Toby Bryan got a little nervous about controlling Toby out on the trail, so he got on with his mom and Blair ponied Toby.
