Brillando still seems to be having a problem getting Litipa to like her. The good news for Deric is that there doesn't seem to be open hostility, just indifference. And the last picture of the Sorraia's today will be Talokin running.

In the middle of the night the first of the foals was born. Deric hasn't named the filly yet, but give him time. It isn't very easy to get a good look at her considering her mom is Litipa. Deric just had to show off his amazing horsemanship....

Hey, my name is Deric. I was mentioned once or twice before as the care-taker for the Sorraia mustangs on the reserve. I will be taking over narrating the story of our everyday life. It is my pleasure to introduce two new members to our herd. Litipa gave birth a couple weeks ago to a filly that I have named Lista. It took me a little while to be able to get a good look at the filly. Every time that I approached Lista, I would get stopped by Litipa. I finally had had enough of her and scolded Litipa. It seemed to work at least regarding me. Cayokam gave birth to her foal about a week later. She was much easier with me going over and getting a look. Cayokam gave birth to a roan colt that looks a lot like her. It didn't take long for the colt, named Chato, to start walking. He quickly became my favorite and he seemed to spend most of his day following me around. Chato decided that I was the most entertaining when I was busy doing chores around the reserve. Because of Cayokam being so calm with me being around her foal I was able to get a lot of photos of her and Chato. Close-up of Chato Chato seems to be very brave. He galloped right over to Brillando. He'll make a great herd stallion in the future or at least that is my hope. Svetlana and I are currently on the hunt for more Sorraia mustangs for a second herd. I have some pictures up next of poor Talokin trying to keep track of his growing herd.

I will be selling the filly when she has been weaned. I am going to be starting another herd with Chato. If you are interested I will be looking for a home for Lista in September. The normal sales application won't apply with the Sorraia's. I am really just looking for a breeding stable or someone that will show them.

Sorry folks that I haven't updated, but the Sorraia's are keeping me busy! As promised I have a amusing story of Talokin dealing with his first foals. Poor guy almost ran himself ragged! ;D Here he is trying to find his two mares. I am getting a head of myself a little... Talokin had spent much of his morning taking care of both of the foals. He is exceeding anything that I was told about for band stallions. He is very attentive, spending time nuzzling and playing with both foals. But when more then half the day had passed and the foals were getting hungry, Talokin started to get annoyed. That is when he went looking for them. The first one to be found was Cayokam. She had been spending time trying to get into the bunker. (Silly horse) Cayokam instantly went over to Chato. Litipa still could not be found, though. I was starting to get worried also, until I rounded the corner of the hayshed to find Litipa eating. I herded her out to rejoin Lista. All of the stresses of the day finally caught up with Talokin. I was able to get this shot of him sleeping behind Litipa and Lista. The rest of the day was spent with the mares playing. And Lista following her mother through the woods.... and playing with Litipa. I leave all of you with some pictures of Brillando and Lista playing and all of the horses at the reserve sleeping.
