or did until Dani decided to torch it...confounded mare!
Entry 2:
Been absolutely crazy around here of late...imported a bunch of foals from other ES network stables and have high hopes for the lot of them...almost enough foals to make a herd just of them! I had a major blonde moment when two foals arrived from EV...I forgot I had put in for them!
We have expanded our operations and have set up our Foal Conditioning Station (meh
) in Equestria. Currently the foals are just gamboling around, but since there's nothing there except the new ranch house it's not that big of a deal. We sent Andy with them, though he will occasionally play hooky and be spotted back in Appaloosa
The first one off the trailer was Jazzy - she's a trip! Easily the Boss Filly, she is obviously going to be the new Alpha Mare when they grow up and move back to the main farm. Such a little looker, she is...she's also our first Dominant White! I had though she might have been a Splash until her DNA test came back and I could not be more thrilled to have been wrong! More good news for her as it seems LEC is willing to register her as "White" which totally makes my month!
Jazzy's joined by EV-bred QH filly Dawn Till Dusk ("Tilly") and our first appy the Nez Perce filly Midnight Sky. Skye is already shaping up to be one of my personal favorites...can't really say why, exactly, there's just something about her. Don't have pics at hand of either of them, but I will soon.
Silver gets a buddy, too, with the arrival of EV-bred QH Orange Crush. "Tropic" is slated to be paired with Tilly to help develop our own QH herd; being a Snowcap appaloosa all of his foals should be appy spotted. Being a Cream means he's already been entered into our CPHS registry. With Belle on the waiting list to be cloned Tropic should be quite the man about band for our fillies.
Registering our stock is proving something of a headache, though, as no two registries seem able to agree on colors and/or patterns. We have Frame Overo's registered as Tobiano, Creams registered as Champagnes, and a Paint who can't be registered as APH since he was born with a Unicorn horn. We do have a query in, however, as to whether TC's non-Uni foals from QH and APH mares may be eligible for APH registration and we hope the response will be in the affirmative. Heart and Sunshine were accepted by APH, and (color notwithstanding) all of our Unis and QH are listed with the appropriate breed registries. In fact everyone is now listed in their respective breed registries and only AGH and the color registries are still outstanding (well, and Jazzy, but her official app will go out later this week). Lucky me as I now get to file registry papers from the new office at the Equestria branch!
Speaking of "outstanding", Amy and Dani brought home a 5th jumping Grand Prix in DREC's Hunter Jumper show. This nets us standings for HJC as well. It's our first community placing in three shows to date (Also new mare Ariela's first show). Next up are FWF Dressage (Prix Caprilli for Dani and Amy) and DBVEC Western Pleasure (Andy and Digit and Bryan and TC) both of which close 5 July.
On the breeding front Heart is pre-entered to SHR's produce of dam show representing KSMH with Dawn and Snowy. This is the first show for KSMH registered horses and we hope to place well; funny that they're all ISHR as well
Snowy has started schooling over fences and has very nice hunter form. So nice that I wanted to enter her into a community Hunter show, but she's still on Temp papers for KSMH so I guess we'll have to wait for the next one. I realized recently that Goldy would make a very nice sire for Snowy's first foal....A guaranteed Cream, 3 possible pinto genes to inherit, KSMH main book eligible...and if that really is a Rack I see Snowy trying to perform out in the paddock then I could be one lucky owner indeed! KSMH recently registered our first Certified stud (over at RFE) and if I get the filly I want from Snowy then I will for sure be scheduling a booking with him.
I mentioned Ariela...our first Arabian and she is a doozy! I've always had a soft spot for greys and this one is no exception. Expecting a filly, imagine my surprise when this very leggy yet very elegant mare stepped lightly off the trailer and into my heart. She's currently in training, as she arrived completely unbroke, and is being shown lightly on the flat while she adjusts to her new home.
As green as she is I'll be showing her personally; her ground manners are to die for, though - such a perfect lady! She is a dream to ride and has no problem whatsoever keeping her mind on her work...
The only really 'down' thing that happened was in Dani hosting a bonfire on our Cross Country course. Not the way Amy and Bryan pictured their night out, but it was enough to draw out the neighbors and 2 full Fire teams.
I suppose it was all for the best, though, as one of the damaged jumps was ...ahh...removed...before we could clean it up...it doesn't help that the local constabulary can't fight.
Ah well...perfect excuse to build a new jump!
