Okay, so I thought I'd make a little tutorial on how to get your WA vacation worlds to show up in the "select world" dropdown, so you can play them like you would any world.
Requirements:
'World Adventures' Add-On, obviously
s3pe
basic knowledge of s3pe, although I will guide you through the process
First, go to your ...\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Worlds directory and make a copy of the *.world files you want to enable. You are going to edit the original files, so do make a copy! It's important!
And more copies! ;-) Next, copy the original *.world files of the worlds you want to enable and paste them to ...\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Worlds
Launch s3pe and open the *.world file you want to edit.
The resource responsible for giving a world its 'vacation' status is UNKN 0x296A6258. I have attached a modified resource to this post so you don't have to fiddle with the values yourself, and you can learn more about these values in the 'Create-A-World' forum over at MTS. :-)
All you have to do is find UNKN 0x296A6258 in s3pe (be sure to use the sort function if you're confused) and right click. Select "Import"->"From File" and choose the file I attached. Make sure you have "replace duplicates", "compress" and "use resource name" checked when the import window pops up.
Save.
Congratulations, you will now be able to select that world to play! You will notice that there's suddenly two entries of the vacation worlds you edited.
This is because you do, in fact, have two copies using the same world id (we didn't change that!) which means the game loads both files from your base game directory and the WA directory.
You need to keep the unedited WA *.world files where they belong, though, or your game could do horrible things when you try to send Sims on a vacation!
So you just have to accept this minor issue with this quick and dirty method.
Of course, you could always learn how to open premade worlds in CAW, give them a new identity and have your own unique copy of the world but that's also something you can learn over at MTS!
Additional Notes:
There may be minor issues such as quests popping up or crazy Sim names, or just general weirdness like that. That is because this really is the quick and dirty method.
