(Better to watch on youtube, it's hard to see anything this small. XDI made this video for my Tumblr bros a while back, but I figured I'd share here as well. The video covers mostly how I do distance blurring on some of my shots, but also briefly covers some small fixes and how actions work. Hope some of you find it useful!

Thanks for the video, although I already know a lot about Photoshop (we use the same version by the way) I'm still far away from perfection - for example I didn't knew what you could do with the alpha layer - exept for using it while retexturing stuff.
You're right with the actions though, a lot of them isn't really usable for sims 3. Sometimes I go and search for new actions to use (I'm kind of an action junkie, I have actions for everything - mainly to resize my screenshots in every possible and impossible size but also for color altering, although for colorings I tend to work more with PSDs instead of complete actions because I normally have to delete parts of them untill I can use them.) and I often tend to get results that are totally unusable (mostly just images that are either way too dark or way too blue) and if you have tips for actions that work ok with sims, I'd be glad for those.
Although, like on Marigold Acres, I also tend to keep one action for pictures from the same site. That way it is like a unit and not every picture is different.

Aww, yay! You're welcome, guys. I wish I had time to put together more tutorials because I looove showing people how to do things, I just don't have enough hours in a day, lol. @emelia: Actions are a pain in the booty to find, and even more-so for me now that the user I used to get most of my actions from (night-fate) took all of theirs down because of someone stealing and reuploading their stuff. I found a couple that are kind of neat, but mostly in an artistic way... at this point I think I'm down to 3 actions I can use on regular screenshots, and ALL of them I have to tweak specifically to the lightness/darkness of the screenshot. But, I def think finding one and sticking to it is the way to go. I have one that's just a standard image brightener/contrast that I may upload at some point, because it's very easy to tweak, and doesn't automatically flatten the image like some annoying actions. x___x

I hate those automatic flattening ones. Wrecked so many of my edited shots! Thanks for the links to those actions, very helpful!

I still have some from night-fate but most of them are too artistic for normal screenshots. I currently mostly use the eversims action (which makes the images a lot lighter and a bit more reddish in the end) and the one I used for the pictures on my EC. Also as I said, I tend to save the actions as psds, so that the color alteration layers are on top of my base layer - that way it's easy to drag and drop them to every screenshot I need to edit. You guys know that you can delete the "Flatten Image"-Action, don't you? That's the first thing I do when I get a new action, go through the commands and check if there are any "Flatten Image" or "Merge Layers" actions and delete them. The copper actions you linked to... That guy also has kind of a megapack, I'm gonna try it out with those, maybe I find one to replace the coloring of my Marigold Pictures. Thanks alot for the hints

I know the action I normally use a lot is a gradient fill that I've made myself to readjust the skies hue so its less flat ((I sit and put a polarizing filter and sky light filter on most my shots honest xD)). Great video though

I'm curious to know what kind of tablet you use for editing. Do you have any recommendations?

I'm curious to know what kind of tablet you use for editing. Do you have any recommendations? This is the tablet I have, but I while it's a great tablet, I don't know if I'd recommend it as it's quite pricey; there's quite a large variety out there that work just as well. Wacom is generally the most reliable brand, they're just a bit more expensive; if you don't plan on using it a lot, I'd try and find a cheaper brand. The wireless on it can also be a bit frustrating, so I'd highly recommend avoiding anything that doesn't plug into the computer. Honestly, when it comes to tablets they all generally do the same thing, so I'd pay more attention on getting a size that works well for you, in a price range you're willing to commit to.

Thank you for the insight Kaleeko. I'm probably not looking to spend too much but I am interested in trying one out. I do some sketching with good old fashioned pen and paper but I think it would be fun to try a new medium ya know?
