STABLE MANAGEMENT
with paige@equus
Owning a sim stable is fun.. but can also get stressful if not managed properly! this guild is going to give you tips on keeping the household calm, cool and under control.
TO USE THESE TIPS EFFECTIVELY, NRAAS MASTER CONTROLLER, PLUS THE ADDONS INTEGRATION AND PORTRAIT PANEL, ARE NEEDED IN YOUR GAME.
firstly, try and limit the amount of horses you have in the household. Many players have taken to using different households; a main farm, breeding, training, and a spare if you breed one too many foals! it is a useful tip which i use myself! and you will find that you will feel a little more organized.
Secondly, i prefer to have my sim/pet autonomy to LOW.Not only does this boost your games performance, but you wont have random horses or sims running into your amazing shot, or getting lost halfway across your world! a VERY useful mod, is a "no auto-leave stalls" mod that can be found in the updates section of the equus main site. This way you can put horses away for the night without them running off at their own will!
A really important tip, one that is SURE to keep the social worker at bay, is using the testingcheatsenabled true cheat. type it into the blue cheats bar, and CTRL + SHIFT click the MAILBOX. a selection of option will expose themselves, but click "make all happy". then, wait a second, and CTRL + SHIFT click the MAILBOX AGAIN. This time, choose "make needs static". What you are effectively doing, is freezing the decay of needs for ALL members of the household. No bad tempered sims and pesky social workers stealing your ponios!
the tip above is the reason why i haven't included houses in the "designing your stable" post. You basically wont need one! however you can still have one if you choose to. I also didn't include paddocks, because the horses don't need to run around! but you can make some on community lots for picture purposes!
To save time, you can use the master controller to adjust your sims riding skill to 10. Select your sim, then nraas - master controller - advanced - set skill level. Find riding, and type in "10" and press enter. Voila! your sim is now a level 10 rider. You can do this with your horses also if you wish, but most like to train the horses from scratch.
If you still don't think mods are for you, then a structured group of staff is what you need! here is a list of the important people who you should have in your stable.
THE BOSS/MANAGER
exactly as it says. They should be there to scold your sims for not making the beds properly, or anything else they could nit-pick at! They re also useful for interviews, and for someone to speak to for selling and buying.
HEAD GROOM
second in command, you don't want to cross paths on bad blood with this sim either. They will go around, making sure everything is running smoothly, and are in charge of the rest of the staff.
STABLE HANDS/GROOMS
a team of around 3 sims for the mucky chores are usually the handiest for big stables.
RIDERS/TRAINERS
why take away precious cleaning up time from the grooms? hire some riders/trainers! 2 or 3, depending on the size of your stables.
MAINTENANCE MAN
usually the sexy mofo you see lurking around stables, but are rarely seen doing anything other than breaking thing without a shirt in. looking pretty. pulling "I'm sexy and i know it" faces. Certainly gives the stable girls something to oggle! and he can fix a broken sink or two!
